Shakespeare South has been invited to contribute an immersive performative piece for the European Cultural Centre’s “Time, Space, Existence” exhibition at the Biennale Architettura, 2023.
The original sound performance is part of a larger work by Dr Ainslie Murray and Associate Professor Joshua Zeunert of the University of New South Wales combining visual art installation, multi-media and soundscape to convey environmental disruption in Australia’s landscape.
Shakespeare South and Miles Franklin Award winner Dr Josephine Wilson (Murdoch University) adapted the performance text from Anthropocene Poetics (2019) by Professor David Farrier of the University of Edinburgh. Original place-based sound was recorded, designed and produced by Dr Leo Murray (Murdoch University) and combined with poetic-dramatic text performed by Alys Daroy.
The work forms part of Shakespeare South’s performance research into biophilic eco-theatrical modes of practice and creative responses to ecological crises.
Co-created by Alys Daroy, Leo Murray and Joshua Zeunert.
