What better way to experience the Adelaide Botanic Garden after dark than with Shakespeare’s riotous comedy Twelfth Night? Performed by a cast of multi-award-winning actors, the show incorporated original live music by Michaela Burger, physical performance and immersive soundscapes of the natural world. Set on the Palm House lawns, guests enjoyed the Botanic Garden’s Kiosk refreshments under a starlit sky. The production incorporated upcycled and recycled props and costumes, no built stage to reduce impact and physical dramaturgy to evoke the play’s many references to weather, animals, plants and landscapes. 100% of all ticket fees were donated to Fresh Start by Humanitix. The production was carbon-offset through biodiversity restoration programs.
We had a delightful night and really enjoyed the intimacy afforded by the picnic informal setting. A night to remember alright!
Washed ashore following a violent storm at sea, Viola fears that her twin brother Sebastian has drowned. Alone in the foreign hostile land of Illyria, Viola disguises herself as a manservant to seek protection in the Duke Orsino’s court. Viola promptly falls in love with the Duke, who is in turn in love with the Countess Olivia. Olivia, in mourning for her brother and wholly disinterested in the Duke, promptly falls in love with Viola, who is disguised as ‘Cesario’. Amidst this fraught love triangle, Olivia’s steward Malvolio is struggling to maintain control over the drunken Sir Toby Belch, his foppish friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek and housekeeper Maria. The resultant mayhem that is watched over by the enigmatic fool Feste who knows more than it appears.
What a joy tonight was! It was so entertaining, we were captivated and enthralled in the world these actors created. What a setting, what a cast. Bravo!
Wow! These actors were absolutely sensational, every single one of them. I laughed so hard! What a brilliant performance. I absolutely loved, loved, loved it!

We loved the show, thank you for bringing my 1986 schoolgirl Shakespeare compulsory study to life. So much life in your version, it was just fabulous and both of my young adult kids loved it too
